Sereno Park is located at 56th Street and Thunderbird Rd. in Scottsdale, AZ. It’s technically in that magic zip code so the park is managed by the City of Phoenix. I live nearby, and I’m still figuring out why I have City of Phoenix services such as sewer, water, and trash pickup, but I have a Scottsdale address.
Perhaps it is because this park is so very close to our home that we visit nearly all the time. We’ve walked there, rode our bikes, and driven dozens of times this year alone.
Perhaps what makes this park so enjoyable for us is the playground for the kids. There are swings for younger and older kids, as well as two separate play equipment setups. There is one for younger children that includes two slide, accessible by stairs and a ladder. There is a very large structure for older children that includes four slides, climbing areas, as well as several raised pathways. My “almost three year old” likes to play on both of them at this point, but tends to recently play in the sand.
During summertime, these play areas are uncovered, so this park is one we rarely visit in the summertime, except after dark. You should also be aware that the bathrooms, while generally clean, do not have stall doors. So it’s pretty basic.
I love this park! It’s close to our home, has lots of open grass areas, baseball and soccer fields, as well as a huge public parking lot. There are no shortage of picnic tables, or good trees for shade. Walking paths wind their way throughout the park, so if you’re going for a walk, there’s plenty of places to go.
Here’s a full list of some of the features:

Before the weather turned hot, we went for a picnic at Sereno Park and had a really excellent time. We just picked up some random food from the grocery store, such as brie cheese, french bread, and thick cut turkey. Adding on grapes, and it was a meal to remember!
